As the anchor of Petron, Santos was a big part of the Blaze Boosters' upset of Talk 'N Text in the 2011 Governors' Cup Finals, denying the Tropang Texters of a shot at immortality.
Six years later, with the San Miguel Beermen looking to complete a triple crown, Santos is trying his best to rally his teammates and avoid making the same mistake.
Because according to Arwind, the Beermen's biggest obstacle towards winning a Grand Slam will be themselves.
Not TNT, not Ginebra, not anybody else.
If San Miguel fails to complete the triple crown, it's on them.
"Ang lagi ko lang ire-remind sa kanila, pagkatapos ng lahat ng nangyari, successful na nangyari sa team namin, hindi tayo kayang sirain ng mga tao sa labas," Santos said Friday during the team's victory party to celebrate winning the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
"Kasi naniniwala ako na isa lang satin dito sa loob ang pwedeng makasira sa team natin. Kung sino man sa labas, hindi mangyayari yun kasi hindi naman nila handle kung ano nangyayari dito," he added, talking about his San Miguel team that has won five of the last eight PBA championships.
After going through countless high-pressure situations over the last three years, San Miguel's core is as solid as ever.
Arwind would like to keep it that way as the Beermen face perhaps their toughest challenge yet.
"Yung team namin, yung time element mas mahaba pa yung time na magkakasama tayo kesa sa pamilya natin. So wag sana natin kalimutan at hayaan masira ng isa satin dito na nasa loob," he said.
"Kailangan core tayo, solid tayo habang lalong tumatagal," Arwind added.
Chasing a Grand Sla, Santos said San Miguel needs to settle dow and not get consumed by the pressure.
As with their previous five titles together, Arwind said that the Beermen's first priority for the Governors' Cup is to actually make the playoffs and then go from there.
"One game at a time lang talaga. Ang target muna namin makapasok ng semis, yun lang muna. Hindi kami kailangan magmadali," he said. - ABS-CBN Sports
